Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgical Process Engineer for our Upington site. This full-time role focuses on optimizing metallurgical processes, improving recovery, and ensuring product quality in a major mineral processing operation.

You will lead pilot studies, analyze data, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with operations and maintenance to drive safe, efficient plant performance while complying with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years in metallurgical process engineering, preferably in mining/mineral processing.
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing techniques and equipment.
• Experience with process optimization and troubleshooting.
• Data-driven analytical approach with problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.
• Conduct pilot plant studies and plant trials to evaluate technologies and improvements.
• Analyze process data to identify bottlenecks and efficiency gains.
• Develop and implement process control strategies for optimal operation and product quality.
• Troubleshoot issues to maintain throughput and recovery.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams for seamless integration.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process design documents.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental regulations are followed.
• Mentor junior metallurgical engineers and share knowledge.
