Placements24 in Cape Town invites a dynamic Project Engineer specializing in Mechanical Systems to lead mechanical engineering projects from concept to commissioning. You will collaborate with design teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver on time and within budget.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least 5 years of project engineering/management experience, and strong knowledge of PM methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in project engineering/management within a mechanical context.
• Proven experience managing complex mechanical projects from concept through commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with South African safety regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lifecycle of mechanical engineering projects including planning, scheduling, resourcing, and execution.
• Coordinate with design engineers to meet specifications and performance requirements.
• Manage budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-control measures.
• Liaise with vendors to procure materials and ensure timely delivery and quality.
• Conduct site inspections and progress reviews to identify risks and issues.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders.
