Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong project management capabilities for a hybrid role based in Randburg, Gauteng. Lead mechanical projects, manage teams and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery across industrial, infrastructure and energy sectors.

The ideal candidate has a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years' experience (3+ in leadership), and excellent communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience with at least 3 years in a project management or lead role.
• Proven track record managing complex engineering projects in industrial/infrastructure/energy sectors.
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent technical knowledge across mechanical disciplines.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects from initiation to completion, within scope, schedule and budget.
• Develop detailed project plans with resources, timelines and risk assessments.
• Oversee design, specification and procurement of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors and other disciplines.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
• Conduct site inspections, progress monitoring and quality checks.
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations and client requirements.
• Prepare project reports, technical documentation and client presentations.
• Contribute to business development, including proposals and tender evaluations.
