Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Mechanical Fitter for Upington, Northern Cape, to install, maintain and repair mining equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose faults and execute repairs with precision, while upholding strict safety and environmental standards.

The role requires a Trade Certificate as Mechanical Fitter (NQF Level 3) and a minimum of five years post-trade experience in mining or heavy industry, with strong hydraulics, pneumatics, and drawing interpretation

Qualifications

• Trade certificate as Mechanical Fitter (NQF Level 3).
• Minimum 5 years post-trade experience in mining or heavy industrial settings.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Welding, machining and fabrication experience is highly desirable.
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair mechanical systems including pumps, conveyors, crushers, and heavy mobile equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance per schedules and equipment specs.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using appropriate tools.
• Read drawings, blueprints and manuals to guide work.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety and environmental standards.
