Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical Fitter with a relevant trade certificate (e.g., NQF Level 3).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Proven ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, and drills.
• Commitment to upholding safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble heavy machinery and mechanical systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on mining equipment, including lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
• Diagnose mechanical failures using appropriate tools and techniques, identifying root causes.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Fabricate, fit, and assemble components and sub‑assemblies.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Assist in the training and development of apprentices and junior fitters.
