Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in a remote-first role with occasional site visits near Klerksdorp. You will drive design, development, and optimization of industrial machinery, using CAD and FEA tools to ensure reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design and industrial machinery.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with machining, welding, and casting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical components and systems for industrial machinery using CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Perform stress, vibration, and thermal analyses using FEA tools.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of existing industrial equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement design modifications to improve performance and longevity.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers and provide technical leadership on projects.
