Job summary

Henry Fagan in Cape Town seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering services, drive business development, and supervise key projects. You will report to the MEP Lead and oversee design, coordination, and site execution.

The ideal candidate brings ECSA Pr Eng registration with at least 10 years post-registration experience, and strong experience in HVAC, fire protection, hot water plants, wet services, vertical transport, and related building systems.

• Minimum 10-years post ECSA registration experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as Senior Mechanical Engineer on all Services projects.
• Manage and control all aspects of building work throughout the project.
• Regular site visits to confirm site progress, build quality, and interface coordination issues.
• Assist Business Development and Executive in tendering, RFPs, and tender submissions content.
• Compile required reports for projects based on business requirements.

Job Description

The work profile for this position includes Managing Mechanical Engineering Services, engaging in business development, and supervising key projects.

This position reports to the MEP Lead

Key responsibilities will include:

• Acting as Senior Mechanical Engineer on all Services projects.
• Manage and control all aspects of building work throughout the project.
• Regular site visits to ascertain site progress, build quality, interface coordination issues etc.
• Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals, as well as assisting with proving content for tender submission.
• Compile necessary reports for projects based on business requirements.

The ideal candidate should have:

• ECSA Pr Eng registered with minimum Bsc Eng / B Eng Mechanical Engineering Degree
• Minimum 10-years post ECSA registration experience.

Experience to include:

• HVAC system building services infrastructure design
• Fire Protection (sprinkler) building services infrastructure design
• Hot Water Plant (heat pumps) infrastructure design
• Wet services piping, storage and drainage building systems design
• Vertical transportation (lifts and escalators) infrastructure design
• Smoke ventilation and extraction system infrastructure design
• Wastewater treatment plan and Green Building design experience would be an advantage
