Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to translate concepts into manufacturable 3D models and 2D drawings. You will lead detailed CAD work for complex assemblies, collaborates with engineers and production teams, and mentor junior designers while ensuring designs meet production and quality requirements.

You will specify materials, tolerances, finishes, and GD&T, review designs for accuracy, and troubleshoot issues through fabrication and assembly.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as Mechanical Designer or Drafter.
• Proficient in CAD software and GD&T.
• Experience creating BOMs and supporting production.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for complex components and assemblies.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to refine designs based on performance.
• Specify materials, tolerances, finishes, and other manufacturing details.
• Review and mentor junior designers, providing technical guidance.
• Troubleshoot design issues during manufacturing or assembly.
