Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking a highly experienced Long-Haul Truck Driver to operate from Upington. You will drive heavy-duty trucks, manage cargo security, and ensure timely deliveries across long distances, often overnight.

Extensive route knowledge and adherence to safety protocols are essential. The role requires 7+ years of long-haul experience with high-value cargo, a flawless driving record, and the ability to work away from home for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 14/PDP mandatory.
• 7+ years of proven long-haul driving experience, especially with high-value cargo.
• Impeccable driving record with no major infringements.
• Experience with specialized cargo handling and securing equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of SA road networks and regulations.
• Ability to drive extended periods and stay away from home.
• Strong vehicle maintenance knowledge and preventative care.
• Must pass medical examination and background check.
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with ELD systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty long-haul trucks for interstate transport.
• Safely load, secure, and unload cargo per protocols.
• Plan efficient, safe long-distance routes.
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain accurate ELD logs for driving hours and rest.
• Comply with all traffic laws and regulations.
• Ensure security and integrity of transported cargo.
• Communicate with dispatch about status and delays.
• Perform basic truck maintenance and keep cab clean.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
