Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, seeks an experienced Long-Distance Truck Driver to operate interprovincial routes across South Africa. You will ensure cargo is loaded and secured, perform pre-trip inspections, and maintain accurate logs while meeting tight delivery schedules.

The ideal candidate has a valid PDP and Code 14 license, at least 6 years of professional driving with 4+ years in long-haul work, and a proven safe driving record.

Qualifications

• Valid PDP and appropriate driver’s license (Code 14)
• Minimum 6 years professional driving experience, at least 4 years long-distance/interprovincial driving
• Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks (tractor-trailers, etc.)
• Impeccable driving record with no major accidents or violations
• Knowledge of SA road networks, traffic laws and long-haul practices
• Ability to work independently and adhere to schedules
• Proficiency with GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs)
• Good communication with dispatch and clients

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks for long-distance transportation between provinces
• Load and secure cargo per specs
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document issues
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
• Maintain logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel use, and deliveries
• Follow traffic laws and company policies
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report issues
• Communicate route status and delays with dispatch
• Ensure truck cab remains clean and professional
• Navigate diverse road conditions with safety as priority
