Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Livestock Manager to oversee large-scale operations near Soweto. You will lead feeding, breeding, health monitoring and welfare programs, while managing a team and maintaining meticulous livestock records.

The role requires a degree in Animal Science or related field, at least 4 years in livestock management, and capability to work outdoors on Gauteng farms. A competitive package includes accommodation, medical and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in managing livestock operations.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and common diseases.
• Experience with record-keeping systems for livestock management.
• Proven leadership and ability to manage teams.
• Willingness to work outdoors in Soweto.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement livestock management plans (feeding, breeding, health).
• Supervise daily care and welfare of livestock.
• Monitor animal health, identify disease, and implement treatment.
• Manage staff, provide training and supervision.
• Maintain records of health, breeding, production and mortality.
• Oversee procurement of feed, veterinary supplies, and resources.
