Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Livestock Manager to lead cattle operations in the Welkom, Free State region. You will oversee health, welfare, and productivity of the herd, manage grazing lands and feed programs, and lead a dedicated team to implement best practices in animal husbandry.

The role involves developing breeding programs, maintaining accurate herd records, and ensuring safety and efficiency across all farm activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing large-scale cattle operations.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and disease prevention.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Familiarity with livestock software and record-keeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily care, feeding, and health management of the cattle herd.
• Develop breeding programs to enhance herd genetics and productivity.
• Monitor animal health and liaise with veterinarians for care.
• Manage grazing rotations and ensure feed supplies year-round.
• Train livestock handlers and ensure safety protocols.
• Maintain records on herd size, health, breeding, and production.
