Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Livestock Management or similar role.
  • Degree or diploma in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
  • Knowledge of animal nutrition, genetics, and disease control.

  • Physical fitness and willingness for hands-on tasks.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Livestock Manager to oversee their animal husbandry operations in Vereeniging . This role is critical for maintaining the health, welfare, and productivity of the farm's animals, ensuring adherence to high standards of care and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for managing feeding programs, breeding strategies, health monitoring, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal science, excellent leadership skills, and a practical, hands‑on approach to farm management. This position offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to the success of a key agricultural enterprise in Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of livestock operations, including breeding, feeding, health management, and welfare.
  • Develop and implement effective feeding and nutrition plans to optimize animal growth and productivity.
  • Monitor animal health closely, identify diseases, and implement appropriate treatment and preventative measures.
  • Oversee the selection and procurement of livestock, ensuring genetic quality and health.
  • Manage a team of farm workers involved in livestock care, providing training and supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, breeding, production, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all animal welfare regulations and ethical farming practices.
Requirements
