Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Engineer specializing in Live Production for an on-site role in Bloemfontein. You will manage and operate advanced broadcast equipment across live TV and radio, set up studios, monitor quality, and troubleshoot under pressure.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in live broadcast engineering, deep knowledge of signal flow, standards, and transmission tech, plus hands-on experience with Ross/Blackmagic switchers and RF systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Broadcast Engineer with a strong emphasis on live television or radio production.
• In-depth knowledge of video and audio signal flow, broadcast standards, and transmission technologies.
• Hands-on experience with video switchers, audio consoles, and RF systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting broadcast systems under pressure.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team in Bloemfontein.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain broadcast equipment including cameras, switchers, audio mixers, and transmission systems.
• Set up and configure studios and remote facilities for live events.
• Monitor broadcast quality and performance; adjust for optimal signal integrity.
• Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live broadcasts.
• Collaborate with directors, producers, and talent to meet technical requirements.
• Stay current with evolving broadcast technologies and best practices.
