The opportunity
We are looking for a creative, technically skilled and dependable Video Editor and Technical Controller to join our team. Video editing and post-production are the primary focus, with the role also providing hands‑on technical support for live and pre‑recorded radio, podcasts, outside broadcasts and remote productions.
What you'll do
- Edit raw footage into polished, engaging content for broadcast, YouTube and social media.
- Cut, trim and sequence footage; synchronise video and audio; improve sound; and apply titles, captions, graphics and effects.
- Perform basic colour correction, visual enhancement and final quality‑control checks.
- Create engaging hooks, dynamic openings and high‑converting YouTube thumbnails.
- Optimise titles, descriptions and tags with an understanding of YouTube SEO and audience discovery.
- Repurpose long‑form content into YouTube Shorts, Instagram and TikTok clips.
- Stay current with video, YouTube and social‑media trends and best practices.
- Set up and operate cameras, lighting, microphones and related production equipment.
- Support live streams and recordings by monitoring picture, lighting, sound and connectivity.
- Operate radio control desks for live and pre‑recorded programmes, managing microphones, music, calls, interviews, jingles, adverts and inserts.
- Cue presenters and contributors, maintain accurate programme timing and troubleshoot technical issues during transmission.
- Edit and prepare recorded programmes, interviews, features and promotions for the RCS or relevant playout system.
- Set up and operate equipment for outside broadcasts and remote productions, including internet/transmission links.
- Maintain clear communication between field locations and the main studio and resolve technical problems quickly.
The working environment
- Studio‑based role with regular outside broadcasts, remote productions and podcast administration.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and irregular hours/shifts to support a 24/7 on‑air environment.
- Own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence are required.
- English proficiency is required; proficiency in Afrikaans will be advantageous.
Why this role matters
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys combining creativity with technology. You will help turn ideas and raw content into professional, audience‑focused productions while keeping the technical side of broadcasts running smoothly.
