Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a growing renewable energy entity to hire a meticulous Legal Advisor based in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role focuses on commercial, energy, and environmental law within a project-driven environment.

You will counsel development teams, finance, and external stakeholders on contracts, compliance, and risk management. The ideal candidate holds an LLB and SA admission with at least 4 years post-qualification experience, and demonstrates strong drafting,

Qualifications

Must hold LLB degree and be admitted in South Africa.
Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in commercial, energy, or environmental law.
Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

Provide legal advice on renewable energy project development, including land acquisition, permitting, and regulatory approvals.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as PPAs, EPC contracts, and O&M agreements.
Ensure compliance with South African energy sector regulations, environmental laws, and local bylaws.
Conduct legal research and provide analysis on policy changes and legal risks affecting the renewable energy industry.
Assist in managing dispute resolution and litigation related to project activities.
Support corporate governance requirements and statutory filings.
Advise on risk management strategies for project implementation and operations.
Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and external legal experts.
