Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support large-scale energy and infrastructure projects based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will provide expert advice on development, financing, construction, and operation, focusing on renewables.

The role involves negotiating complex contracts and navigating regulatory frameworks. The position offers remote flexibility while collaborating with project teams across South Africa.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of SA with 7+ years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in project finance, energy law or infrastructure development.
• Strong understanding of SA environmental, energy and land-use law.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel across all phases of energy/infrastructure projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate EPC, O&M, PPAs, and financing documents.
• Conduct due diligence on permits, sites and regulatory approvals.
• Advise on land, environmental law and regulatory compliance for development.
• Manage project finance legal aspects including debt/equity financing.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks in execution and operation.
• Liaise with government authorities, regulators and stakeholders.
• Support dispute resolution and litigation management as needed.
