Placements24 is seeking a visionary Lead Process Engineer to direct critical chemical manufacturing operations in Durban. You will oversee design, implementation and optimization of large-scale processes, guiding a team of engineers while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in chemical process engineering, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement within KwaZulu-Natal operations. This is an on-site role at the Durban plant.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering required.
• Over 10 years of hands-on process engineering experience in industrial chemicals.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM and HAZOP analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Solid understanding of process control systems and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team in design, modification and troubleshooting of complex chemical processes.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Manage projects from conception to completion, including budget and timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers to build a high-performance team.
• Collaborate with plant management to resolve production challenges and share best practices.
