Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Senior Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of high-value infrastructure projects in the Tembisa region. You will lead planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and stakeholder expectations.

You'll manage diverse teams of engineers, architects, contractors, and site personnel, enforce building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 8 years progressive project management experience in infrastructure.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale projects from concept to completion.
• Strong knowledge of PMI or PRINCE2 and planning tools (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Knowledge of Gauteng building codes, safety regulations and environmental compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Negotiation, financial management and budget control abilities.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, demanding environment with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from initiation to closure.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams: engineers, architects, contractors, and site staff.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks with contingency plans.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Manage project budgets and cost-control measures to meet targets.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, and community representatives, providing updates.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare detailed project reports on milestones and challenges.
