Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a Senior Automotive Software Engineer to shape the user experience of in-vehicle infotainment systems. The role covers design, development, and integration of navigation, multimedia, and connectivity features in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in embedded automotive software, strong C++/Java skills, and knowledge of CAN/LIN/Automotive Ethernet, plus familiarity with Android Automotive, QNX or OpenGL.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years in embedded software for automotive infotainment.
• Strong C++ and/or Java for embedded systems.
• Experience with CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet.
• Familiarity with infotainment frameworks (Android Automotive, QNX, OpenGL).
• Proficient with SDLC and agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement software for infotainment systems (UI/UX, multimedia, navigation, connectivity).
• Write high-quality, maintainable code in C++ and/or Java.
• Integrate software with hardware and other vehicle systems.
• Develop unit, integration, and system tests to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and hardware engineers.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues; participate in code reviews.
• Stay updated on automotive infotainment trends and technologies.
