Job summary
Placements24 seeks an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Engineer to join our client’s operations in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will maintain, repair, and optimize large-scale refrigeration systems used in food processing, cold storage, and manufacturing, with hands-on on-site work across facilities in Mossel Bay and surrounding areas.

Qualifications
- Trade qualification or hands-on expertise in industrial refrigeration systems.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and controls.
- Experience with industrial control systems (PLCs) and HMIs.
- Familiarity with ammonia and other industrial refrigerants.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, repair, and maintain industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and Freon-based systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues within refrigeration plants.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance for optimal performance.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals to guide repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Manage refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak detection.
- Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
- Maintain service logs, work orders, and inventory records.
- Collaborate with plant operators and maintenance teams for technical support.
