Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Industrial Electrician for our Durban facility. You will maintain and repair plant electrical systems, interpret schematics, and lead preventive maintenance to minimize downtime on high‑voltage equipment.

The role requires 6+ years in industrial electrical maintenance, PLC troubleshooting, and a strong focus on safety and productivity. A valid driver’s license is essential in this fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a recognized trade certificate (NQF Level 4 or equivalent).
• 6+ years of proven experience as an Industrial Electrician in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of industrial power systems, motor controls, and high‑voltage equipment.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and P&IDs.
• PLC troubleshooting and basic programming is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout and working at heights.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in the plant.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues on production machinery.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals for accurate installations and repairs.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes.
• Work with PLCs and automation systems for troubleshooting and minor mods.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and coordinate repairs.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams for efficient operations.
• Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Provide guidance to junior electricians and apprentices.
