Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Industrial Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical systems in its Nelspruit facilities. You will ensure safe operation of power distribution, control systems and machinery while following strict safety practices.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, reading blueprints, and performing preventive maintenance, with a focus on PLCs, MCCs and VFDs to minimize downtime and support operational excellence.

Qualifications

• A qualified Electrician with a valid trade certificate (e.g., NQF Level 4 Electrician).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, motor controls and instrumentation.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment in industrial facilities.
• Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions and breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to guide installation and repair work.
• Install and maintain electrical control systems, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment according to schedules and best practices.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues related to PLCs, MCCs, and power distribution systems.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools and specialized electrical testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel and production staff to ensure efficient operations.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in training to stay updated on electrical technologies and safety.
