Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Hydropower Engineer to join our client’s team in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will lead design, development, and operational support for hydropower projects, spanning feasibility studies to construction and commissioning.

This role offers a hybrid work model, international exposure, and a pathway to contribute to critical renewable energy infrastructure in the region.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with hydropower specialization.
• 8+ years in design and execution of hydropower projects.
• Expertise in hydraulic structures, turbine technology, and hydroelectric power.
• Proficient in engineering design software and simulations.
• Strong knowledge of environmental assessments and regulatory processes.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of hydropower facilities including dams and powerhouses.
• Perform feasibility studies and site investigations for hydro projects.
• Develop detailed drawings, specs, and calculations for civil, mechanical, electrical.
• Oversee procurement and installation of turbine and generator equipment.
• Provide construction-phase technical support and site supervision.
• Collaborate with environmental consultants and regulators for compliance.
