Job summary

Bidvest Facilities Management in South Africa seeks an experienced Maintenance Engineer to lead the maintenance engineering functions across regional portfolios. You will oversee asset strategies, lifecycle management, and compliance to safety standards, focusing on value for money for clients.

The role includes designing mechanical/HVAC systems, performing calculations, and guiding SAP CMMS data capture, with emphasis on risk management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Matric and relevant engineering degree as listed in the qualifications.
• 10–15 years’ experience in the Design and Maintenance of HVAC and Mechanical Engineering systems.
• Registration with ECSA is an advantage.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls and components.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and SANS codes.

Responsibilities

• Review and maintain asset maintenance strategies and equipment instructions.
• Manage plant and equipment life cycle and update the CMMS data.
• Perform quality control inspections and audits of mechanical assets.
• Design and implement HVAC and ventilation solutions and systems.
• Use first-principle calculations and design software to support projects.
• Coordinate regulatory advisory and risk management activities.
• Lead incident investigations and RCA-based reports with preventative actions.
