Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed HVAC systems for commercial/industrial buildings, including load calculations and ductwork design.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs for HVAC installations.
• Conduct energy modelling to optimize system performance and reduce energy use.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of HVAC systems per design.
• Troubleshoot HVAC issues during operation and ensure compliance.

About the Role

Our client, a leading firm in sustainable building solutions, is seeking a Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer for their prominent office in Centurion . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and management of advanced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems for commercial and industrial projects. You will lead the engineering efforts for HVAC components, ensuring optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with stringent building codes and environmental standards. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to projects from conception through to completion, collaborating with architects, project managers, and construction teams to deliver state-of-the-art climate control solutions, fostering a culture of innovation in green building technologies and sustainable engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed HVAC systems for commercial and industrial buildings, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork design.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs for HVAC installations.
• Conduct energy modeling and analysis to optimize system efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC system issues during the operational phase.
• Stay abreast of the latest HVAC technologies , building codes, and sustainability standards.

Requirements

• Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng. with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 8 years of specialized experience in HVAC mechanical engineering design.
• Proven expertise in building energy simulation software (e.g., eQUEST, EnergyPlus) and AutoCAD/Revit.
• Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles as applied to HVAC.
• Experience with sustainable building certifications (e.g., LEED, Green Star).
• Strong project management and client liaison skills.
