Key responsibilities include coordinating staffing, ensuring high‑quality patient care, guiding nursing staff, monitoring care standards, and driving quality improvement initiatives within the unit.

Qualifications

• Diploma in General Nursing or BCur Degree (or equivalent NQF 7).
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Post Basic in Critical Care.
• Health Services Management qualification.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the clinical and operational functioning of the High Care unit.
• Deliver safe, comprehensive and high‑quality patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing staff in the unit.
• Monitor patient care standards and escalate changes in patient conditions.
• Coordinate staffing, rosters and daily operational requirements.
• Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies and infection prevention measures.
• Monitor equipment, stock and resources within the unit.
• Support staff development and ongoing clinical education.
• Participate in quality improvement, audits and risk management.
