Job summary

MSP Staffing Pty Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks an experienced Unit Manager High Care to lead the clinical and operational management of a High Care unit in Centurion, Gauteng.

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, coordinate staffing and rosters, monitor patient care standards, drive quality improvements, and ensure compliance with nursing standards, policies and legislation.

Qualifications

• Diploma in General Nursing or BCur Degree is required.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.
• Post Basic Qualification in Critical Care is required.
• Qualification in Health Services Management is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the overall clinical and operational functioning of the High Care unit.
• Ensure the delivery of safe, comprehensive and high-quality patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to nursing staff within the unit.
• Monitor patient care standards and ensure appropriate escalation of changes in patients' conditions.
• Coordinate staffing, rosters and daily operational requirements to maintain effective service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, infection prevention measures and applicable healthcare legislation.
• Monitor the use and availability of equipment, stock and other resources within the unit.
• Support staff development, performance management and ongoing clinical education.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and risk management processes.
• Maintain effective communication with medical practitioners, nursing staff and the broader multidisciplinary team.

Minimum 3 years' experience after obtaining the speciality qualification. Strong clinical leadership and staff management abilities.
