Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer for their Randburg R&D team. You will design, develop, test high‑performance hardware, and work across the full hardware lifecycle including schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and production support.

The role requires 7+ years in hardware design, strong analog/digital design skills, familiarity with EDA tools, and collaboration with firmware teams to deliver integrated IoT solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of hardware design experience.
• Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout with EDA tools.
• Strong analog circuit design experience (amps, filters, power supplies).
• Solid digital logic design, MCUs and embedded systems experience.
• Knowledge of signal integrity and high-speed design techniques.
• Experience with testing/measurement equipment (O-scope, logic analyzer).
• Familiarity with wireless tech (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, cellular).
• Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design analog and digital circuits for new products.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts using Altium/OrCAD.
• Select components based on performance, cost and availability.
• Build and test prototypes; perform validation and verification.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Optimize designs for performance, power and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with firmware/software teams for integration.
• Develop hardware test plans and validation procedures.
• Assist in transitioning designs to manufacturing.
