Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer to join a fully remote, South Africa-based team. You will design, develop, and validate complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal hardware for next-generation products, mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical direction.

You will lead schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware interfaces, and system-level validation while collaborating with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams in a distributed setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's with substantial experience.
• 10+ years in electrical hardware design for complex systems.
• Proven analog, digital, power management, and embedded design experience.
• Experience with Altium, Cadence Allegro, or PADS for schematic and PCB layout.
• Strong signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC knowledge.
• Experience with MCUs, FPGAs and related development tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.
• Ability to lead technical projects with minimal supervision; remote-ready.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and testing of complex hardware systems.
• Create Schematics, PCB layouts, and firmware interfaces.
• Perform component selection, circuit analysis, and validation.
• Oversee hardware development lifecycle from concept to mass production.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, product, and manufacturing teams remotely.
• Ensure designs meet performance, cost, and time-to-market targets.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for hardware failures and corrective actions.
• Develop hardware design documentation and test plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and shape technical direction.
• Communicate progress to distributed teams.
