Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of grid dynamics, stability, protection and control, and regulatory interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine technical requirements for grid connection of new generation facilities, including renewables and storage.
• Analyze grid performance and stability, identifying issues and proposing solutions.
• Contribute to grid codes, operational policies, and planning standards.
• Conduct studies on power flow, short circuits, transient stability, and voltage stability.
• Collaborate with system operators, generators, regulators on grid integration matters.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise within the team.

This pivotal role focuses on ensuring the stable and reliable integration of diverse energy resources, including conventional and renewable sources, into the national grid. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid integration.
• Deep understanding of power system dynamics, stability, control, and protection.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, PSCAD).
• Experience with renewable energy integration challenges and solutions.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working within regulatory frameworks relevant to the energy sector.
• Familiarity with operations in Benoni and the broader South African power system is advantageous.
