Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
• 8+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering with grid integration.
• Experience with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Knowledge of grid codes, protection systems, and substation design.
• Experience with renewable energy integration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, transient stability, and harmonic analysis.
• Design and specify electrical systems for grid connection of renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Develop protection schemes and relay settings for substations and transmission lines.
• Evaluate the impact of distributed generation on grid stability and performance.
• Collaborate with project teams, grid operators, and other stakeholders on integration strategies.
• Develop technical specifications for electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and cables.
• Review designs and installations to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Troubleshoot electrical system issues and provide technical support.
• Contribute to the development of grid modernization and expansion plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise within the team.

Requirements

• Proven experience in conducting power system studies using software like PSS/E, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.In-depth knowledge of grid codes, protection systems, and substation design.
• Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and their integration challenges.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effective for hybrid collaboration.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be authorized to work in South Africa .
