About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their dynamic energy team based in Rustenburg. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless and stable connection of new energy generation sources, particularly renewables, to the national grid. You will be responsible for technical analysis, system design, and the development of strategies to manage grid stability and power quality. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a balance between remote flexibility and essential in-person collaboration with key stakeholders and onsite teams within the North West region.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze grid capacity and stability for the interconnection of renewable energy projects.
• Develop technical specifications and designs for grid connection infrastructure and protection schemes.
• Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability analysis.
• Collaborate with utility companies, project developers, and internal engineering teams on grid integration strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on grid integration challenges.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Over 7 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid integration.
• Expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PowerFactory).
• In-depth knowledge of grid codes, standards, and utility interconnection processes.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and their impact on grid stability.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
