Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for our Klerksdorp office to lead geotechnical investigations and advanced stability analyses for open-pit and underground mining projects. You will design ground support, monitor ground control, and manage risk assessments while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with engineers, geologists, and constructors.

The role requires a Master's degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering with a Geotechnics focus and at least 7 years of mining

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with Geotechnics specialization.
• Minimum 7 years of geotechnical experience in mining environments.
• Experience in slope stability analysis (LEM/ FEM) and underground design.
• Strong report writing and client presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and site characterization for mining projects.
• Perform stability analyses and design ground support systems for open-pit and underground operations.
• Develop and implement ground monitoring programs.
• Prepare geotechnical reports and design documents for clients.
• Mentor junior staff and liaise with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with South African mining regulations and best practices.
