Job summary

Placements24, in partnership with a leading Eastern Cape consultancy, seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support energy projects across wind, solar, and substations. The role features a hybrid office-site model and requires 6–8 years in geotechnical engineering.

You will oversee investigations, design foundations, mentor juniors, and ensure compliance with South African geotechnical standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering with geotechnical specialization.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and manage geotechnical investigations for energy projects.
• Analyze subsurface data from boreholes, CPTs, and geophysics.
• Develop foundation designs for wind turbines, solar arrays, substations, and earthworks.
• Assess slope stability, seismic hazards, and liquefaction potential.
• Prepare detailed reports, calculations and specifications.
• Provide geotechnical input during construction, including site supervision.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and engineers to meet objectives.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and codes.
