Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer for its Paarl project delivery team. You will assess ground conditions and provide expert recommendations for wind turbine foundations and solar farm substructures, with on-site and hybrid data analysis responsibilities.

The role emphasizes rigorous reporting, collaboration with project managers and engineers, and ensuring safety and stability of foundational elements across renewable energy projects in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
• Minimum 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Experience with large infrastructure or energy projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GEO5, SLOPE/W).

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and interpret site investigations (bores, CPTs, geophysical surveys).
• Analyze soil/rock data to derive engineering properties.
• Provide design parameters for foundations, earthworks, retaining structures.
• Assess slope/embankment stability for sites.
• Conduct seismic hazard and liquefaction analyses.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical investigation reports and recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, PMs, engineers and construction teams.
• Supervise site investigations and testing.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and best practices.
• Review construction methods and provide ongoing geotechnical support.
