Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Sandton, Gauteng, to lead geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, and earthworks. You will oversee site investigations and analyses, liaise with clients, and mentor junior engineers in a hybrid office/site setting.

The role requires a MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Pr Eng registration, and 10+ years of experience. You will work on complex projects across Gauteng with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering with geotechnical specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive geotechnical design and site investigation experience.
• Proven ability to design complex foundations, deep excavations and slope stabilization.
• Strong knowledge of soil/rock mechanics and engineering geology.
• Experience with field instrumentation and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, and earthworks.
• Oversee boreholes, CPTs, and in-situ testing.
• Perform advanced geotechnical analyses for stability and settlement.
• Prepare geotechnical investigation and construction design reports.
• Liaise with clients and project teams to integrate geotechnical requirements.
• Provide technical oversight during construction.
• Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and support knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to tender proposals and business development.
