Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Geoscientist to join their exploration team, working remotely to support operations in and around Richards Bay, South Africa. The role focuses on subsurface interpretation, geological modeling, and risk assessment to identify hydrocarbon resources.

You will collaborate with reservoir engineers and exploration managers to guide decisions on exploration targets, mentoring junior geoscientists and delivering geological reports to management.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in oil and gas exploration, with an emphasis on subsurface interpretation.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and geological modeling tools.
• Solid understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology relevant to petroleum systems.
• Experience in the South African geological context or similar frontier basins is highly advantageous.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and collaboration skills for remote work.
