Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior Geologist to support underground mining operations, develop 3D models, and guide exploration strategies.

You will lead or mentor junior geologists, collaborate with engineers and geophysicists, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards. The role requires 7+ years of mining geology experience and proficiency with Leapfrog, Micromine or Desvik.

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in geological exploration and mine geology.
Strong knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy and mineral deposits.
Proficiency with geological modeling software Leapfrog, Micromine or Deswik.
Excellent analytical, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Conduct detailed geological mapping and core logging for underground exploration programs.
Develop 3D geological models to estimate ore reserves and guide mine development.
Interpret geophysical and geochemical data to identify ore bodies.
Collaborate with mine planning teams to optimize extraction strategies.
Ensure data quality and prepare geological reports for management.
