Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a leading mining client in Midrand, Gauteng, to recruit a Senior Geologist. The role focuses on exploration, resource development and modelling of mineral deposits for multiple assets.

You will work on diverse geological projects, lead drilling campaigns, and provide technical reporting while maintaining safety and environmental standards. A strong track record in geostatistics and independent teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geosciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration and resource geology, preferably Gauteng.
• Proficiency in Leapfrog, Vulcan or Micromine for geological modelling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping and sampling in exploration areas.
• Interpret data from geophysical surveys, drill cores and assays.
• Develop and refine geological models using standard software.
• Estimate resources and reserves per JORC/NI 43-101.
• Plan and supervise drilling programs and data collection.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize mine planning.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Mentor junior geologists and contribute to team growth.
• Identify and evaluate new exploration targets.
