Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Geologist to join our client's exploration team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on interpreting geological data, identifying hydrocarbon prospects, and guiding exploration strategy to unlock new plays.

The position operates in a hybrid model, combining office-based analysis with collaborative field and reservoir studies. You will mentor junior geologists and work with multidisciplinary teams to maximize asset value in the region.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in geological exploration within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably frontier or challenging basins.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (Petrel, GeoGraphix, Leapfrog).
• Expertise in seismic interpretation, well correlation, and core analysis.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and interpret geological, geophysical, and well log data to build subsurface models.
• Identify and evaluate prospective hydrocarbon plays and prospects.
• Conduct detailed structural and stratigraphic analysis.
• Perform basin analysis and risk assessment for exploration projects.
