Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Curriculum Developer for an independent school in Sandton, Gauteng. Lead the design and implementation of innovative curricula for the Foundation Phase (Grades R-3), shaping early learning experiences and ensuring developmentally appropriate programs.

Collaborate with educators and specialists, assess curriculum effectiveness, and mentor teachers, introducing new pedagogical approaches to foster holistic development in a dynamic school environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education or related field; Master’s degree highly preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of teaching and curriculum development, Foundation Phase focus.
• Proven track record designing and implementing early childhood programs.
• Deep understanding of child development theories and learning stages.
• Knowledge of CAPS and its Foundation Phase application.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor and inspire a team of educators.
• Proficiency in curriculum assessment and evaluation methodologies.
• Passion for early childhood education and student well-being.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, review and refinement of Foundation Phase curriculum aligned with standards and school philosophy.
• Design engaging learning activities, lesson plans, and assessment strategies for young learners.
• Ensure content is developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant.
• Provide guidance and professional development to Foundation Phase teachers.
• Evaluate curriculum effectiveness via assessments, feedback and observations.
• Research and integrate innovative pedagogical approaches and educational technologies.
• Collaborate with specialists to ensure cohesive learning progression.
• Develop resources and materials to support teachers and learners.
• Champion a child-centered approach within Foundation Phase.
