Job summary

Placements24's client, a dynamic primary school in East London, Eastern Cape, seeks a Senior Foundation Phase Teacher for Grades R to 3. You will create engaging, inclusive learning environments that foster foundational literacy, numeracy and social-emotional growth.

The role requires a Foundation Phase qualification, at least 5 years of experience, SACE registration, strong classroom management, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Qualified Foundation Phase teacher with early childhood focus.
• Minimum 5 years of Foundation Phase teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development theories and pedagogy.
• Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver play-based learning experiences for Foundation Phase learners.
• Develop a curriculum meeting developmental needs in literacy, numeracy and life skills.
• Create a safe, stimulating classroom environment encouraging curiosity and collaboration.
• Assess progress via ongoing observation and formative/summative assessments; provide feedback.
• Maintain student records and prepare progress reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school administration to support learning.
• Support social interaction and emotional development among learners.
• Participate in school events, staff meetings and professional development.
• Adhere to school policies and national curriculum guidelines.
