Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with 5+ in senior finance/Controller role.
• Extensive knowledge of IFRS and regulatory compliance.

• Experience working with auditors and tax authorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including AP/AR, GL, and payroll.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes with regular updates.
• Ensure IFRS and local regulatory compliance.
• Maintain robust internal controls and safeguard assets.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for management and auditors.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent and expanding force in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Controller to oversee financial operations in Sandton, Gauteng . This senior leadership position is crucial for ensuring the financial health and integrity of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management, accounting principles, and strategic financial planning, ideally within the FMCG industry. This role offers a significant opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to contribute to the strategic direction and sustained growth of a leading company. The focus will be on maintaining robust financial controls, driving efficiency, providing strategic financial insights, and leading the finance team with expertise and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Develop and manage the company's annual budget and financial forecasts, providing regular updates and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for senior management and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management or controller position, preferably within the FMCG industry .
• Extensive knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Proven experience in implementing and managing internal controls and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience working with auditors and tax authorities.
• Demonstrated ability to drive change and process improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment in Sandton .
