Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Flight Operations Manager to oversee flight operations from our Pretoria base. You will lead dispatch and operations control teams while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient scheduling.

Responsibilities include policy development, risk assessment, and strategic input for fleet operations. The ideal candidate has deep airline operations experience and strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Aviation-related degree or extensive relevant experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in airline flight operations management.
• Proven experience in managing flight dispatch and operations control centers.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO and SACAA aviation regulations pertaining to flight operations.
• Strong understanding of flight planning software, weather systems, and NOTAMs.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily flight operations, ensuring adherence to schedules and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
• Manage flight dispatcher and operations control teams, including scheduling and performance management.
• Oversee flight planning, weather monitoring, and operational risk assessment.
• Ensure compliance with all aviation regulations, including those set by the SACAA.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, airport authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Manage operational disruptions and emergencies, developing effective contingency plans.
• Contribute to strategic planning for fleet operations and expansion.
• Monitor operational performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
• Foster a safety-first culture within the flight operations department.
