About the Role

Our client, a diversified multinational corporation with significant operations in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a seasoned Senior Financial Controller to lead their group reporting function. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to manage critical financial operations from anywhere while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS and group policies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in financial control, group consolidation, and regulatory reporting. As a key member of the finance leadership team, you will play a vital role in driving financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insights. This role requires exceptional leadership, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to manage a high-performing team remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and consolidation of group financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and group policies.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes for the group.
• Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Lead and mentor the group accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Prepare financial analysis and commentary for senior management and the board of directors.
• Oversee statutory reporting requirements for various entities within the group.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements within the finance function.
• Manage treasury operations and cash flow forecasting.

Requirements

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA) or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in financial control, group reporting, or audit, preferably within a large corporate or listed company.
• Extensive knowledge of IFRS and consolidation techniques.
• Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial consolidation tools.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience managing remote teams.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience operating within the KwaZulu-Natal or related industrial sectors is advantageous.
• High level of integrity and professional ethics.
