Placements24 is assisting a rapidly expanding financial services group in Upington, Northern Cape, to recruit a Senior Financial Controller. You will oversee all accounting operations, lead month-end close, and drive IFRS reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

This senior role requires directing internal controls and collaborating with auditors in a growth-focused environment. The successful candidate will have a CA(SA)/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, 7+ years in accounting with 3+ years supervisory

Qualifications

• 7+ years in accounting/financial management with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong IFRS knowledge and South African standards.
• Experience in financial services or banking is preferred.
• Proficient in SAP/Oracle and advanced Excel.
• Eligible for work authorization in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll operations.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding financial services group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Controller to oversee their financial operations in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is critical for managing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will be responsible for the monthly and annual closing processes, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of accounting principles (IFRS), and extensive experience in financial management within the banking or financial services sector. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure timely financial statement preparation.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads.
• Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or controller role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting standards.
• Experience in the financial services or banking industry is highly preferred.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Must hold or be eligible for work authorization in South Africa .
