Job summary

Alexforbes is seeking a qualified CA(SA) Senior Financial Accountant to join our Retail Finance team. You will contribute to financial reporting, budgeting and management reporting, statutory compliance and business partnering across the Retail business.

This role emphasizes month-end close, IFRS reporting, insights for decision-making, and driving process improvement with automation. A minimum of six years in audit and financial reporting with post-articles experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years' experience in audit, financial and management reporting, including at least 3 years post-articles.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, governance and financial controls.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent analytical thinking and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis for the Retail cluster.
• Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, financial results and KPIs.
• Drive month-end close in line with Group timelines.
• Support statutory, regulatory and IFRS reporting including annual audit.
• Partner with business stakeholders to provide financial insights for decision-making.
• Develop financial models and scenarios to support strategic initiatives.

Job description

We are looking for a qualified CA(SA) Senior Financial Accountant with a passion for financial reporting, analysis and business partnering to join our Retail Finance team. This role plays a key part in delivering financial and management reporting, financial planning and analysis, statutory reporting, governance and operational finance support across the Retail business.

Key Focus Areas:

• Assist in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis for various business within the Retail cluster.
• Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, financial results and key performance indicators.
• Drive the month-end reporting and closing process in line with Group timelines
• Support statutory, regulatory and IFRS reporting requirements, including the annual audit.
• Assist with Board, Committee and external reporting deliverables.
• Partner with business stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insights and support decision-making.
• Monitor expenditure, analyse variances and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Develop financial models, scenario analyses and business cases to support strategic initiatives.
• Support governance, risk management, internal controls and audit processes.
• Contribute to treasury, taxation and capital management activities.
• Champion process improvement, automation and AI-driven efficiencies within the finance function.

Requirements:

• Minimum 6 years' experience in audit, financial and management reporting, including at least 3 years post-articles.
• Experience within financial services, wealth management or an asset-based business will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS, governance and financial controls.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
