Job summary

Alexforbes is seeking a client-focused Financial Planning Consultant to transform financial journeys through trusted advice, technology and impactful solutions. The role focuses on identifying client needs, delivering tailored recommendations, and providing ongoing financial planning for retained clients in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

The ideal candidate has strong investments/life products knowledge, a FAIS qualification with credits, and at least 5 years as a Financial Advisor.

Qualifications

• Matric (essential).
• FAIS qualification with credits.
• Fit & proper, not under supervision.
• Minimum 5 years as Financial Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of investments and life products.
• Understanding of corporate and individual client environments.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
• CFP certification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Identify client investment needs, risk tolerance, and profile.
• Provide written recommendations based on risk profile questionnaire.
• Explain performance of investment portfolios and educate on basics.
• Ensure portfolios align with FPC philosophy.
• Provide ongoing financial planning to retained clients.
• Develop strategies to obtain and manage business within Corporate accounts.
• Strengthen relationships with key staff in Corporate accounts.
• Resolve client queries and complaints.
• Source new business from retained clients and referrals.
• Implement and process advice per FPC systems and policies.
• Support Alexforbes client strategies and goals in the business plan.

Job description

We are looking for a passionate, client-focused and sales driven Financial Planning Consultant professional to transform financial journeys through trusted advice, innovative technology and impactful solutions that empower clients to achieve their long-term investment goals.

Key Focus Areas:

• Identify a client’s investment needs, risk tolerance and profile, other investments (and other assets), personal circumstances, income requirements, investment time horizon etc
• Make a written recommendation based on a client’s responses to the risk profile questionnaire and subsequent discussions
• Provide the client with information on the performance of the various investment portfolios available
• Educate the clients with regards to basic investment principles, i.e. risk versus reward, market sentiment, trends, performance (offshore and local), benchmarks etc
• Ensure that the clients investment portfolio is consistent with FPC’s investment philosophy
• Provide ongoing financial planning advice to “retained” clients
• Develop and implement strategies to obtain and manage business opportunities arising within assigned Corporate accounts
• Manage and strengthen relationships with key staff in assigned Corporate
• Resolve client concerns, queries and/or complaints
• Source new business from retained clients and by means of referrals
• Implement and process advice in the line with FPC systems and policies
• Support Alexforbes client related strategies and deliver key goals as contained in an approved business plan

Requirements:

• Matric (essential)
• Recognised FAIS related qualification and credits
• Fit and proper and also no longer working under supervision
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial Advisor
• Strong knowledge of investments and life products
• Understanding of corporate and individual client environments
• Valid driver's license and own vehicle
• Bilingual in both English and Afrikaans
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• CFP (advantageous)
