Job summary

West Coast Personnel is seeking a skilled field-service technician to install, service and repair industrial doors and loading dock systems. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe operation.

The role requires hands-on experience with industrial installations, strong fault-finding abilities and the ability to work at heights. A valid SA driver’s licence and physical fitness are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 is required.
• 3+ years of electrical, mechanical or industrial technical experience with field-service exposure.
• Strong fault-finding in electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience with industrial installations, maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, maintain and repair industrial doors, automated door systems and loading dock equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults.
• Work on high-speed doors, sectional doors, motors, control systems and related components.
• Conduct site inspections and assess installation requirements.
• Take accurate measurements and prepare equipment, tools and materials for installations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and troubleshooting.
• Test, commission and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Carry out basic welding, fabrication and mechanical adjustments where required.
• Complete technical reports, service documentation and job cards accurately.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians.
• Maintain excellent customer relationships and high workmanship standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.
• Experience with industrial installations, maintenance and repairs.
• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and testing equipment.
• Ability and willingness to work safely at heights.
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in industrial environments.
• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures.
• Experience with industrial roller shutter doors, high-speed doors, automated doors or loading dock systems.
• Knowledge of motors, control panels, sensors and automated equipment.
